![]() |
The 33rd Annual Vair Fair will be held at Lexington, Virginia located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley on May 18 - 20, 2012. The Vair Fair will be based at the Lexington Howard Johnsons motel where scenic mountains provide a gorgeous setting for the Corvair events.
Activities start on the afternoon of Friday, May 18 with registration, hospitality room and vendors set up. Friday evening there will be a free pizza party for the Vair Fair attendees followed by Valve Cover Races. On Saturday morning, May 19, things really get rolling with the People's Choice Concours at the motel where the mountains provide a great backdrop for photographs. This being the 50th anniversary of the 1962 Corvair a special class for those Corvairs will be included, which can be co-entered with other early model classes.
The "Rally with a View" will take participants along the Blue Ridge Parkway on Saturday afternoon. Not only is this a beautiful drive, but there will opportunity to stop for sightseeing and shopping at one of the Parkway gift shops, as well as visiting their historical exhibits.
On Saturday evening Vair Fair attendees will be able dine on their own at one of the many local restaurants and can then go to the movies at the family oriented Hull's Drive-in theater, just a couple miles away.
Sunday morning will bring a fun tournament at the motel's putt-putt course followed by the exciting Corvair Games. Soon after the Corvair Games the final door prizes will be drawn and the awards will be presented.

On Sunday afternoon, the SCCA will be holding an autocross in Verona, VA at I-81 exit 225, which is about a 30 minute drive from the Howard Johnsons. A convoy will lead participants to the autocross site where they can sign up for the autocross. We are going to be special guest of the SCCA and they are giving us our own heat/run group. Since this is a separate event from the Vair Fair activities, sign up is not listed on the Vair Fair registration. Cost to drive in the autocross is $25 for SCCA and $35 for non-SCCA members.
